Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
Your faith journey is personal. We collect as little as we can, never sell it, and never use it for ads.
The short version
- No ads, no ad trackers, and no selling or renting your information.
- Most of what you create stays on your phone.
- Refuge (your private walk, check-ins and trusted circle) stays on your phone.
- Ember, the AI companion, only sees what you send it and what you allow it to remember.
- You can delete everything at any time from Profile.
What we collect
- Account: the email address you sign in with, and a first name if you choose to add one.
- What you create: highlights, notes, saved verses, stones, prayers, plans, gratitude entries and reminders.
- Ember: the messages you send and Ember’s replies, plus the memory settings you choose.
- Community: the posts and replies you share, what you pray for, and any reports, mutes or blocks.
- Premium: whether you have a subscription or trial. Apple and Google handle payment. We never see your card details.
- Technical basics: app version and device type, so the app works properly on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Refuge is the most private part of Lanternly. Your walk, hard days, check-ins, urge timer and breath prayers stay on your device. The names and numbers in your trusted circle stay on your device. Lanternly never contacts them; texts and calls open in your own phone app.
Reading settings, appearance and reminder times also stay on your device.
Who helps us run Lanternly
We use a small number of service providers. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Supabase: stores your account and synced data so it’s there when you sign in on a new phone.
- Anthropic (Claude): writes Ember’s replies. Messages are sent securely and, under Anthropic’s commercial terms, aren’t used to train its models.
- Apple, Google and RevenueCat: handle subscriptions and tell us whether Premium is active.
- An email provider: sends your sign-in codes.
Safety
Before anything is shared in Community, it is checked on your phone and by an automated review, so that hateful, sexual or spam content is stopped. If a post or message suggests someone may be in danger, it isn’t published. The person sees real crisis resources right away, and the Lanternly team may review it to help keep people safe.
Reported posts and replies are hidden and reviewed by the Lanternly team. Reports are anonymous; the person you report is never told who reported them.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account and data, it’s removed from your phone right away and from our servers within 30 days, including anything you shared in Community.
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything: Profile → Delete my account and data.
- Turn Ember’s memory on or off for each kind of information in Personalize Ember.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have more rights. We honor them for everyone.
Security
Information sent between the app and our servers is encrypted, and our database provider encrypts stored data. No system is perfect, so we keep only what we need.
Adults only
Lanternly is for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
